Match Catering Closes Due to Fiscal Stress

New York-based catering and event management firm Match Catering announced plans to close its doors earlier this week. In an email sent to its clientele, the company cited fiscal stress and economic uncertainty as major factors in the decision.

Match C.E.O Joan Steinberg shared a few more details in an email this morning: "For 14 years Match Catering has owned the business of custom catering and event design. Over the past year, as budgets have declined and events postponed, it has become impossible to produce quality events the way we do it and have them be profitable. We are extremely proud of the brand we have built and don't want to disappoint our loyal clients by changing our style or diluting our brand. And so, with great sadness, we are closing our doors."

Throughout those 14 years, Match worked with clients including Condé Nast Publications, Overture Films, and Alvin Ailey Dance Theater.
