1. LOLLAPALOOZA PREVIEW: From BizBash Chicago bureau chief Jenny Berg: Lollapalooza's 20th anniversary edition kicks off in Grant Park Friday. Throughout the weekend, 130 acts including Eminem and Muse will take to the festival's eight stages; related events will take place throughout the weekend. Here are some festival highlights:

The by-invite event will offer specialty cocktails and appearances from bands such as Fitz and the Tantrums. Sponsors include Soul by Ludacris and Benefit Cosmetics.

Saturday's events include Gilt City's "Better-Than-Backstage" rooftop pool party at EnV. Open to select Gilt City customers and invited guests, the afternoon event will offer snacks from Hot Chocolate chef Mindy Segal and performances from Cults and the Hood Internet. Playboy's midnight cruise, produced by Global Adrenaline, will also take place on Saturday.

2. SELF-SERVE FOURSQUARE PAGES: Foursquare announced yesterday that businesses can now create free, customized Foursquare pages on their own. Mashable: “For the past 18 months, Foursquare has created about 3,000 business pages in-house, relying on its developers and designers and coordinating with brand creative teams along the way. It was a time-consuming, unsustainable and restricting growth model that limited the amount of businesses that could be “followed” on Foursquare… Foursquare’s new self-serve model for brand pages will be particularly beneficial to small businesses, who have gained from managing their venues on Foursquare, but have not had the ability to interact with users by leaving Foursquare tips.”

3. TWEETING TACTICS FOR BRAND MARKETERS: Twitter is here to stay, and that has brands trying to figure out what to say to engage their audience. Ad Age: "Marketers know it's worth collecting fans and followers, but once they have them, they're left with little to say... So what's a brand to do? For starters, brands can learn from the best publishers on the web, like Huffington Post or Gawker/Gizmodo. These outlets combine small amounts of stock content with large amounts of flow content. The former is used to attract new audience and the latter to keep them engaged. To achieve this, brands need to start thinking about their inputs, or who they pay attention to, as much as their outputs, how they look, act and talk."

5. EXTINCT CUISINE: The Daily: "While the consumption of frog legs seems to most Americans a foreign fad, the truth is we may be eating them to extinction...The tons of frogs legs consumed annually—along with the deadly fungus carried over during the importation of the live animals—has depleted populations around the globe, rendering some species at very scarce levels."
