The Riviera Resort & Spa in Palm Springs reopened yesterday following a $70 million renovation, which began last year. The remodeling project preserves the historic resort’s original 1958 layout and façade, and acknowledges former guests such as Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley with Andy Warhol-inspired portraits of the celebrities that hang throughout the property. Upgraded guest rooms will now feature flat-screen plasma televisions, wireless Internet access, and private patios or balconies. The 24-acre property offers 40,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom that holds 3,500, as well as 10,000 square feet of outdoor space. The 11,000-square-foot SpaTerre features 18 treatment rooms, as well as a lounge equipped with a Jacuzzi and Watsu pool.
