
Inspired by Jeff Koons' "Puppy" sculpture at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, event producer Van Wyck & Van Wyck built a four-foot-tall topiary shaped in the form of a griffin. The mythical animal is sponsor JW Marriott's logo and the floral version, which was created as a surprise for the brand executives, had eyes made of mums.

Zen Arts

Just right for summer entertaining, Zen Arts offers an array of entertainment options that can work over or around a pool space. “Bubble spheres” are transparent spheres that hold performers and float on water. The company started with just one, and recently expanded to six, which are now available for dramatic outdoor entertaining. Zen Arts can also bring in costumed mermaids to provide poolside drama.

In line with Riviera Club’s “California wine renaissance” inspiration, menswear designers Derek Buse, Joe Sadler, and Greg Ullery collaborated with the Santa Barbara’s Curtis Winery to produce 75 bottles of a 2008 Rhone Blend red wine. Select editors and guests received the limited-edition bottles, as well as details of the presentation’s date, time, and location printed on a note fashioned after a taxi receipt.
