For the United Arab Emirates’ 40th anniversary in December, Obscura Digital created a series of elaborate projections that illuminated the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. The mosque is 350 feet tall and 650 feet wide; a team of more than 50 people worked on the project.

3. Gastro Bar at 35th

Gastro Bar at 35th opened inside the Tryp hotel in April. The 1,800-square-foot space is furnished with black and white bar stools, brown leather couches, and rustic wooden communal tables. The bar is illuminated by numerous lightbulbs that hang from the ceiling, and several chalkboards feature the menu. Helmed by executive chef John Walsh, the bar offers Spanish-style tapas and cocktails made with fresh ingredients. The entire space is available for buyout and seats as many as 142.

1. Jelsomino

Russian karaoke bar and lounge Jelsomino boasts exposed brick walls, an LED ceiling, and red and mahogany hues. The main stage area has eight tables and holds as many as 80. The backstage room is decorated with metals, director-style chairs, and a Jelsomino-namesake marquee; it holds 40. For private events, the recording studio has a small stage, suede-tufted walls, and a fiber-optic ceiling; it holds 15.

4. Bishops & Barons

Named after two Brooklyn street gangs from the 1950s, East Village cocktail lounge and supper club Bishop & Barons is outfitted with red velvet banquettes and zebra-print chairs. The V.I.P. room has a large flat-screen TV, and a small birdcage hanging from the ceiling holds a pair of stiletto heels. In the main dining room, a peacock structure stands at the center, and crystal-embellished chandeliers adorn the ceiling. The entire space is available for buyouts, and seats as many as 74, or holds 175.

5. Son Cubano

Latin-themed restaurant-slash-club Son Cubano relocated from the meatpacking district to the former Cain locale earlier this year. The new 5,000-square-foot location is decorated to call to mind Havana, Cuba, in the 1950s, with a palette of baby blue and white hues and crystal-embellished chandeliers. The private Crystal Room, located on the second floor, holds as many as 110 people for receptions. The entire space can be bought out for events; it seats 200, or holds as many as 400.

6. Demi Monde

Located in the financial district, Demi Monde offers several spaces for events. The cabinet bar area is enclosed on three sides by wall-to-wall drapes and is outfitted with banquettes and drapes in a powder-blue hue. The underground restaurant and lounge also has a chefs table; it holds 12. The entire space is available for buyouts and seats as many as 120.

Drumbar

With views of Lake Michigan and the Hancock Building, the new outdoor terrace at Chicago's Raffaello Hotel features built-in banquet seating and two fireplaces. The 1,500-square-foot space seats 75 people or holds 100 standing. Drumbar also is planning a second terrace for private parties and events.

Haven at Sanctuary Hotel

Nestled atop the theater district's Sanctuary hotel, Haven is a new rooftop cocktail lounge and restaurant in New York. The outdoor space, which is accessible through a private elevator, is outfitted with reclaimed cedar wood furnishings and plenty of lush greenery; it seats 150 people. The venue also features a 14-foot communal table that seats 20.

Peninsula Sun Terrace

The Peninsula's Sun Terrace rooftop bar in New York offers 2,700 square feet of outdoor space. Decorated to match the color scheme of the adjacent Peninsula spa, the space boasts plush chaise lounges and dining tables in warm saffron and russet-hued fabrics. The terrace can be booked for private events for as many as 75 guests.

Jerry Remy's Roof Deck

Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar & Grill’s Fenway flagship location has a temperature-controlled outdoor roof deck with fifteen 50-inch high-definition TVs, a special roof-deck menu, more than 20 kinds of draught beer, and views of Boston's Fenway Park. The roof deck accommodates 200 people.

Sky Bar is the rooftop lounge at the Beacon Bar & Grill at Washington's Beacon Hotel. It's open seven days a week seasonally and recently introduced a catering menu for private lunches. Dishes are served buffet-style and intended for groups of at least 40 people.

Hyde Bellagio

An outpost of SBE's Hyde opened in Las Vegas at the Bellagio in the former Fontana Bar space with a loungey feel by day and a club vibe at night. The Philippe Starck-designed indoor/outdoor lounge features floor-to-ceiling windows and expansive terrace that overlooks the Fountains of Bellagio. The capacity is about 730 over 12,000 square feet. With 40 V.I.P. tables, Hyde is also available for private events.

Brooklyn Terrace

Located on the rooftop of the Aloft and Sheraton hotels in downtown Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Terrace Lounge offers partially enclosed outdoor spaces, as well as several indoor areas for more intimate gatherings. The space seats 100 or holds as many as 250 guests.
