At the “Hibiscus Glitz” table, designed by A Good Affair and Little Hill Floral Designs, Dish Wish Girl provided whimsical rentals: Plates were emblazoned with sayings like “holy shiitake” and “it takes two to mango.”

The “Boheme Botanica” table, designed by Nicole Alexandra Designs and Rebelle Fleurs, took its inspiration from a snakeskin-patterned table linen in tan. The overall look was natural, with rustic wooden accents and lush greenery, but elevated.

At a table from DL Couch designed by Harken Interiors, woven textures were juxtaposed with patterned napkins; leafy plants, feathers, and stones added a natural feel.

A butterfly motif also appeared in a table Roche Bobois designed with Kaufman Segal Design for Modern Luxury Interiors Chicago. The space had a giant, leafy chandelier that hung low over a picnic-style spread.

The Ruder Group's table, designed by Nelson, reminded guests of the event's cause. On either side of the table letters spelled out "Strength" and "Courage." A design in the shape of the red ribbon that symbolizes AIDS awareness ran down the center of the table.

Inspired by office design, Rockwell Group and Knoll partnered to create a dining environment they billed as the “ultimate whiteboard” experience. All of the surfaces were covered with IdeaPaint, a dry-erase paint, and decorated with doodle art by New York-based artist Jon Burgerman.

At the Icon Mann Power 50 Pre-Oscar dinner in Los Angeles in February, each table was curated in honor of a historic black man—including Nelson Mandela, Malcom X, and Fela Kuti—and had memorabilia significant to that person’s legacy. Soapstone sculptures by South African artist Tendayi Guwamombe were intended to signify strength, solidarity, and family; the 500-pound sculptures were imported from South Africa for the event.

Inspired by the lost city of Atlantis, Arteriors' tablescape featured agatelike wallpaper, which mimics undulating waves, lush tufted-velvet benches, gold accents, and circular mirrors.

Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences’ Governors Ball

Red centerpieces popped inside of the white-draped ballroom. The ballroom’s foyer continued the color palette, with red fabric drapes and red flowers with splashes of white decorating tables. According to organizers, 1,800 yards of white satin, white sequins, red velvet and silk, white and gold metallic print, and white-dotted sateen linens decorated the space.
