The Teepee Project, featuring two 22-foot hand-painted teepees by artists Jen Stark and Misaki Kawai, were on display at Mondrian South Beach from December 2 to 14. The hotel launched the project with a dinner party on the property.

Nearly 10,000 square feet of original artwork was painted, by Oliphant Studios, onto the 19 24-foot-high fabric theatrical drops that surrounded the dramatic Marc Jacobs show backdrop and surround. The February 19 show, produced by KCD at the Park Avenue Armory, was a sensual recreation of Diana Vreeland's "Red Room" living room, as inspired by a "Garden in Hell" Jeremiah Goodman painting seen by Jacobs. The space measured 158 by 50 feet, with runway, stage, and seats all hand-painted to match. (Some 700 guests sat in Vreeland's "living room" while models emerged from a gray version of the same room). "Marc loved the idea of a trompe-l'oeil interior," said set designer Stefan Beckman, who had less than 48 hours to transform the venue following the Tommy Hilfiger show.

For the 2005 event in New York, Guests passed through Raul Avila's 16- by 12-foot curtain of hand-strung orchids before entering the cocktail reception area.

In 2006, the gala had an English garden look that tied to the Met's "AngloMania" exhibit of Britain's posh and punk fashion. Event designer David Monn set up 70 tables in separate mini gardens that were hedged by 400 feet of apple trees. The floors were swathed in carpets of spring grass.

#2 Award Show (up from #3)
The 70th edition of the ceremony was hosted by Saturday Night Live duo Colin Jost and Michael Che, and broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater on NBC. Netflix narrowly topped HBO with the most nominations this year, which was the first time in 17 years that the latter network didn’t receive the most nominations. However, HBO series Game of Thrones received the most nominations with 22, and took home the award for best drama at the end of the night. Other big winners included The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story.
