Ice Sculptures

Fur blankets decorated an ice chaise from Iceculture.

In the cocktail reception space, ovoid ice sculpture centrepieces sat on every cocktail table. The fluid, organic shapes were inspired by the work of all three designers.

For the after-party, Iceculture created an eight-foot ice wall at the entrance of the trading floor. Iconic shapes from Karim Rashid were cut into the ice blocks and packed with snow. The negative space spelled out "DX."

Iceculture created a candleholder and flower piece, which is a larger version of designer Hani Rashid's Alessi pencil holder.

Also placed outside the event's venue was an eye-catching ice sculpture of penguins. The creation of the frozen pieces during the day drew crowds.

A large 14- by 12-foot ice sculpture of Russia's signature dome architecture seen on St. Basil's Cathedral and the Onion Dome served as the centerpiece of the dessert reception.

Aiming to entertain the tweens in the crowd, Sandi R. Hoffman Special Events created an ice lounge modeled after the Icehotel in Sweden.

The Kia Motors lounge featured works of art created from auto parts and an ice bar shaped like the front of a car.

Ice Bulb created "Rhapsody in Blue" ice sculptures for the tent.

Chile sponsored the reception and served salmon ceviche from an ice sculpture in the center of the reception area.

The Iceman's subdivision iceFX created the Sharp sculpture, which had copies of the book embedded in the ice.

A jagged ice sculpture, created by Iceculture, provided a focal point in the reception area.

Iceculture created an ice bar for the cocktail reception.

As a dramatic opening to the show, the enormous white box that covered the stage lifted to reveal the man-made iceberg.

Inspired by Sweden's Ice Hotel and designed to mimic the North Pole, the show's backdrop was returned to its original location under a license-to-import agreement.

So Cool Events created an ice and moving-water bar for one corner of the after-party.

Chicago Ice Works provided a towering ice sculpture with the Canteen logo. Dubbed the "Ultimate Shellfish Bar," the frosty food station held poached jumbo shrimp, shucked East and West Coast oysters, and San Francisco-style Dungeness crab and lobster cocktails with green onions and Louis dressing. There was more seafood to be had in the next room, where a sushi station from Kamehachi offered spider rolls, spicy tuna rolls, and more.

An enormous chunk of ice was carved into a bar with an intricate latticelike design.
