2013 press conference

November 6, 2012
1. Barclays Center
1. Barclays Center
Perhaps the largest project scheduled to debut this fall is the Barclays Center, an 18,000-seat sports arena and home for the N.B.A.'s Brooklyn Nets. Within the 675,000 square feet of space (slated to officially open in September) are a location of hip-hop mogul Jay-Z's 40/40 Club, an 11-suite section known as the Vault, and the 6,000-seat Cushman & Wakefield Theater.

As part of a $40 million renovation of its downtown home, the Public Theater will boast a new mezzanine lounge for serving food and drinks. Named for the landmark building's original use as the Astor Library, the 2,000-square-foot space known as the Library at the Public Theater will serve a menu from chef Andrew Carmellini and offer a design by the Rockwell Group.

Sirio Maccioni, the restaurateur behind entertaining hot spot Le Cirque, is planning to replace Le Caprice in the Pierre hotel with Sirio Ristorante. The restaurant, a local outpost of the eatery inside Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, is slated to open in September and will serve fare inspired by Maccioni's childhood. Interior architect Adam Tihany, who was responsible for the look of the Vegas location (pictured), is working on the design.

After beginning its partnership with the team behind site-specific production Sleep No More last year, the Skylight Group is making another space within Skylight at the McKittrick Hotel available for events. Atop the west Chelsea home of the interactive show is Gallow Green, a rooftop bar that can be rented separately from main venue for private gatherings, including the August 14 soirée hosted by UrbanDaddy and Samsung (pictured).

Last week, Boomer Esiason’s Stadium Grill opened inside Bowlmor Times Square, the product of a partnership between Bowlmor and the former N.F.L. quarterback. The sports bar and eatery inside the mammoth bowling facility has stadium-style seating for 220, and 80-foot-long bar, a real-time sports ticker, and 29 high-definition television screens. Boomer Esiason’s Stadium Grill is available for private events.

Come September, the new Pod 39 Hotel, a budget-friendly, 367-room property from Richard Born and Ira Drukier, will have a bilevel rooftop space. Framed by brick arches and terra-cotta columns, the Pod 39 Hotel Lounge will have views from its 17th-floor perch in Murray Hill, cocktails from mixologist Sam Anderson, and a menu of bites.

Food Network host Guy Fieri (pictured), who already has several restaurants in California, is expected to open an enormous Times Square eatery this September. Dubbed Guy's American Kitchen & Bar, the sprawling 16,000-square-foot restaurant in the former New York Times building will have 500 seats, several private rooms, and an open kitchen.
