Moët & Chandon hosted a recent after-party for the New York premiere of The Great Gatsby at the Plaza in New York. As the evening began, costumed performers made their way through the crowd holding sparklers and champagne bottles from 1921.

At AOL's digital NewFront at Skylight at Moynihan Station in New York April 30, Pinch Food Design presented food in unusual ways. Included: a charcuterie plate with single-serving portions on clipboards.

Interior designer Barry Dixon created color-blocked decor for the Phillips Collection gala reception and dinner held in the galleries of the Washington museum May 3. Dixon selected Fortuny runners and found base linens, base plates, and ghost chairs in similar shades. Dixon worked with Jack H. Lucky Floral Design for the arrangements, Perfect Settings on the linens, and Atmosphere Lighting. Occasions Caterers, working with Lidia Bastianich, catered the Italian dinner.

The Pediatric Oncology Group of Ontario hosted its annual gala at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex on April 20, and the innocent, whimsical nature of the fund-raiser's beneficiaries inspired the evening's vibe. Lounge furniture was asymmetrically positioned and sectioned off into areas that held pink, yellow, or purple rentals, and giant pinwheels hung overhead.

The fiery orange lights at the Catalina Casino evoked a giant campfire at the April 13 Catalina Island Conservancy Ball. The fireside vibe carried through the rest of the evening's decor, which included centerpieces of illuminated apothecary jars filled with the makings of a classic campsite snack: s'mores.

Outdoor dining season is upon us, providing an opportunity to impress guests with colorful and whimsical event decor. LoLo Event Design in Boston offers hand-painted handkerchiefs that can serve as table numbers at a garden event. Set alongside flowers in a terra-cotta pot, tables get a more casual feel than an elaborate formal centerpiece—just right for an alfresco event.

Samsung marked the launch of its Galaxy S4 smartphone with an April 26 party at New York's Cunard Building. To showcase the smartphone's S Translator feature, planners set up mini food stations with menus in languages including French, Spanish, and Italian. Guests could use the handheld devices to translate the descriptions into English.

A global technology company hosted a sales meeting April 9 at Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Dallas. Ray Bloch Productions erected a 120-foot, curved projection screen. "It gave our [graphic] designers a lot of room to stretch out and do some great visual work," said Jeremy Driesen, partner at Ray Bloch. "The curve also provided a bit more of an audience embrace, which was nice."

The footwear industry's top tastemakers gathered in Miami Beach last week for the FN C.E.O. Summit at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Shiraz Events produced the event, which included a registration table designed in bold blue and yellow hues. The grid behind it featured the summit logo, and the table held yellow flowers and candy jars with white treats.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation's Hot Pink Party once again took over New York's Waldorf-Astoria. The April 17 benefit, which raised more than $5.2 million, took on the theme "¡Viva Fiesta!" Miniature bright-colored donkey piñatas from Oriental Trading party supplies were suspended from clear balloons in the Silver Corridor, which lead guests into the Grand Ballroom for the main event.
