The 187-room hotel has six spaces for meetings or events, including a 7,630-square-foot ballroom adjacent to a 4,859-square-foot wraparound prefunction area. The hotel is also attached to a 20,000-square-foot event center. 3. Texas Ale Project

Texas Ale Project, the first new brewery built in Dallas in more than 120 years, opened February in the Dallas design district. Using the indoor and outdoor space, the venue holds nearly 300 guests for receptions or seats about 150. For smaller gatherings, the T.A.P. Room holds about 50 guests for receptions, or groups of 10 or more can make reservations during normal hours. Since it is a working brewery, it restricts events to evenings during the week or on the weekends.

The 168-room Sheraton Stonebriar in Frisco finished a property-wide $10 million expansion in early December. The project added 5,000 square feet of new meeting space, bringing its total to 6,500 square feet. The sundeck around a new pool and Jacuzzi can be used for outdoor events. The 244-room DoubleTree by Hilton Dallas—Love Field converted from a Wyndham property, reopening in February after a $2 million renovation that included upgrades to the north entrance, parking lot, and various public areas of the hotel. 9. Remedy
9. Remedy

The concept for the new restaurant Remedy came from an old handbook for soda fountain operators and an age when natural sparkling water was thought to offer healthful cures. As such, it has its own fountain for creating seasonal sodas, egg creams, and cocktails. Its lunch and dinner menus feature sophisticated takes on staples such as pimento cheese and biscuits, shrimp and grits, and a rotating selection of pies and sundaes. The restaurant's design also has nods to the early 1900s with tufted banquettes and oxidized mirrors. It opened in January along Lower Greenville Avenue and seats 90 inside and 23 on a patio.
