
Abigail Kirsch in New York created smoked cheddar-glazed mini doughnuts dusted with peanut brittle for a surprising sweet-and-savory twist on a classic glazed doughnut. To serve them, the caterer repurposed a plate display rack by turning it on its side and threading the doughnuts through.

Whiskey Fried Classic

The inaugural Whiskey Fried Classic took place July 9 at the Brooklyn Expo Center in New York. Produced by Cannonball Productions, the whiskey and fried food event featured a make-your-own cocktail station in a secret speakeasy. Attendees could choose from a variety of ingredients to put in a plastic cup, which they then brought to a bartender to create a custom whiskey cocktail.

Guests always enjoy gifts—perhaps even more so when they're unexpected. Coupa, a spend-management software company, hosts an annual user conference called "Inspire." In 2014, planners from Roar Events surprised guests by sending them home with boxes of doughnuts.
