
To coincide with the second-season premiere of its fantasy series The Magicians on Wednesday, SyFy has hosted an immersive fan experience at the William Vale in Brooklyn. Produced by Mash Studio, the event featured numerous interactive rooms inspired by the show. One of the first rooms in the hall that guests could enter is inspired by a magical library, created with three walls of books that had pages shake when guests walk by. The room also included suspended books designed to appear as if they were floating.

Axios, the new media venture from former Politico executives Mike Allen and Jim Vandehei, hosted its official launch party on January 18 at RPM Italian in Washington, D.C. Axios worked with event coordinators at Advoc8 and Design Foundry to create a speakeasy atmosphere. A false bookshelf later moved to reveal 70-inch touch screens to illustrate the future of media, which is Axios’ foundation.











Mary Giuliani Catering and Events in New York created a catering option of one-bite paella with shrimp and chorizo with sips of sangria, a take on the hearty rice dish.

Decorative objects within the MKG-produced party space echoed the angular look of the paper plane motif.

A range of old-school concert stubs—from a time when people saved them as souvenirs, before digital ticketing was the norm—arranged under a glass tabletop created eye-catching, on-theme decor.

To make its large 100- by 110-foot booth feel homey, Epic put residential-style furniture in front of a faux fireplace in the center.

Philips has created a small theater in its booth where it is hosting 21 educational presentations, most led by external thought leaders. The company is also live-streaming some of the sessions using Periscope Producer, which launched in October to give brands a way to stream high-quality video from professionals cameras rather than just from a smartphone or tablet. The first six sessions streamed via Periscope have garnered a total of more than one million impressions and 450,000 views.

Truven Health Analytics used wood slats to create unique frames for two large screens hanging above the main aisles on the perimeter of its booth. Organizers said the frames are part of an overall effort to add more organic elements to the booth, such as real greenery and wood flooring instead of carpet.




During this pre-dinner interactive experience from Wolfgang Puck Catering, guests break into groups and move from station to station pickling their own ingredients. Two weeks later, the jars are ready to eat. The catering company also provides recipe ideas with ways to use the new pickled ingredients.











Blueprint Studios showcased a variety of furniture and tabletop rentals at the event, including its customizable acrylic table runner, which is translucent to give the table more dimension. Acrylic runners can be cut to a range of lengths and widths and can display graphics to tie into an event’s theme or branding; custom placemats and accent pieces can also be created at the company’s printing studio. The runner was displayed on Blueprint’s Blaco King table, and topped with natural stone containers holding Flame Calla Lilies, Orange Pincushion Protea, and Liriope. Prices are available upon request; the San Francisco-based company rents nationwide.

Jewell Events Catering's dinner began with a mini iceberg wedge smeared with Green Goddess sauce. A giraffe-shaped flatbread underscored the evening's theme. The main course was filet mignon and fire-grilled prawn; guests had strawberry-lemon tarts for dessert.
