
Twice New is a foundation launched by two event-industry veterans, Crystal Ortiz and Christina Rosenberg, in August. The nonprofit organization, which serves Los Angeles and Orange County, provides easy solutions for event waste: Representatives pick up excess supplies and food from any event or venue and donate it to local charities or shelters. Twice New charges a small fee, but that, as well as the items donated, is tax deductible; prices vary depending on location and quantity.

Gilead was a new sponsor this year. The biopharmaceutical company had a photo booth with images printed on-site; guests could then post their photo on a wall and write messages about how they will help end H.I.V./AIDS in the United States. Gilead representatives were also on hand to discuss the company's initiatives.Â

This collection of funky socks, for example, benefits three organizations: the movements to end malaria, prevent the transmission of H.I.V., and provide disaster relief.
