ATLANTA, GA (May 27, 2020)—BizBash president Matt Johnson announced today that Ashton Pike has been appointed editor in chief of BizBash, the No. 1 event industry resource, and Claire Hoffman has been promoted to executive editor effective immediately.
Pike joined the BizBash team as senior editor in December, upon Connect’s acquisition of the brand. Prior to joining the BizBash team, she served as the editor in chief of Modern Luxury Medicine + Doctors Atlanta, as well as the associate editor of The Atlantan and JEZEBEL magazines, among three other publications, covering Atlanta's luxury lifestyle and event scene.
Since joining BizBash, she has spearheaded coverage on COVID-19, virtual experiences, and the transformation of the event industry. Pike will oversee the editorial team that is responsible for all content on BizBash.com and in BizBash magazine.
"I'm honored to take on this role at a time when event professionals are looking to BizBash not only for our signature inspirational content, but for leadership to guide the industry through this tough time," Pike said. "As live events are reimagined, I'm excited to lead BizBash into its next phase, bringing in fresh ideas to elevate the brand even further."
"I have known Ashton Pike for several years and brought her over from my previous company to help us with the BizBash acquisition,” said Stephanie Davis-Smith, VP of content creation and marketing for Connect and BizBash. “This promotion is so well-deserved as Ashton is a rising young talent with verve, strong journalistic integrity, and fierce editorial chops. Claire is equally as outstanding as Ashton and completely deserving of this new title. I can't wait for everyone to see what this dynamic duo has up their sleeves for the fall issue of the magazine!"
Hoffman has been an integral part of the BizBash team for over a decade, reporting on event trends and ideas from the Academy Awards to IMEX America and Coachella. She also writes a weekly column covering local Los Angeles event industry news and is closely involved in BizBash's “GatherGeeks” podcast. Hoffman previously served as managing editor at the brand’s former New York-based headquarters and has also written and edited stories on a variety of topics for Redbook magazine, the Baltimore City Paper, and Loyola magazine.
"Ashton and Claire have already done an excellent job expanding our reach and power in the world of live experiences," said Johnson. "I'm excited to see how this dynamic team further solidifies our role in the event industry as the brand that creates meaningful relationships and drives business through actionable inspiration."
