Technology company Siemens launched its national Smart Grid Tour last week in its hometown, Orlando. In keeping with the tour’s message of using energy smarter and finding natural power sources, the company contracted Elite Business Productions to design and create an Earth-themed dome to house the promotion.
Siemens created the tour as a way to offer the company's customers and industry professionals a hands-on education about the equipment and software, and the experts who create them.
Measuring 35 feet tall and 70 feet wide, the dome is outfitted with nine 46-inch touch-screen LCD TVs, two 42-inch TVs at kiosks with informational videos, oversize cutouts representing various energy sources, and highboy tables and stools for education sessions.
On April 12 Siemens held an unveiling party for the structure. More than 100 of the company’s local customers and city V.I.P.s stopped by to check out the structure before it headed to New Orleans to get ready for its official kickoff event on Earth Day, Thursday.
Throughout the next six months, the dome will stop in six cities—including Atlanta, Chicago, and Washington—showcasing the latest Smart Grid energy consumption developments, standards, and energy conversion trends. In each city, attendees can meet with energy experts, participate in education sessions, and network with industry professionals.
