Beginning this Saturday, the Corcoran Gallery of Art will present Systematic Landscapes by contemporary artist and architect Maya Lin, best known for her design of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The exhibition focuses on ideas about landscape and technology and is centered on a trio of large-scale sculptures that visitors are encouraged to fully experience by walking around, under, and through. The works, constructed of metal tubing or wood, blend natural forms such as rivers and mountains with scientific analysis and illustrate how people can better understand schematic representations of landscape forms and how they can view space differently through the use of new computer technologies. Private tours are available (with four weeks advance notice) for groups of 15 or more; the show is on view until July 12.
