Hospital Center Gala Returns After a Decade With Dionne Warwick

Every 10 years, the Washington Hospital Center—the largest hospital in the district—puts on a gala to mark a milestone. Tomorrow night, the hospital celebrates its 50th year with some 1,200 guests at the National Building Museum. The center has already exceeded its $1 million goal, raising $2.2 million from the event with corporate sponsorships and private donations.

For its golden anniversary, the hospital has lined up singer Dionne Warwick as the headlining performer, and is incorporating testimonials from patients throughout the evening, including one from former White House press secretary Tony Snow. Another previous patient, opera singer Marquita Lister, will be the M.C."The challenge with any nonprofit is trying to produce a memorable event while being sensitive to financial constraints," said Kim Adomanis-Chomicz, vice president of special events at Susan Davis International, which is handling logistics and PR for the event. "We hope guests will not only walk away with memories of Dionne Warwick’s performance but also a deep understanding of the impact this hospital has on the region, the community, and the nation."
