The 60th annual Primetime Emmy Awards and MTV’s 2008 Video Music Awards both confirmed hosts this past weekend, with six celebrities between them.
Trying their best to promote the newest category, “Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality-Competition Program,” the Emmys tapped all five of the inaugural nominees as co-hosts. Ryan Seacrest (American Idol), Tom Bergeron (Dancing With the Stars), Howie Mandel (Deal or No Deal), Heidi Klum (Project Runway), and Jeff Probst (Survivor) will share hosting duties at the September 21 broadcast.MTV will keep things a little less complicated when the VMAs air September 7 from Paramount Pictures Studios. The network scrapped last year’s host-less format in favor of a solo M.C. and the surprising selection of British actor and comedian Russell Brand. Brand, who garnered attention earlier this year for his scene stealing in the film Forgetting Sarah Marshall, marks a departure for the show from previous high-profile hosts like Jack Black and Chris Rock.
Both shows are still over a month away, so further details on presenters and performers aren’t yet available.
