MTV Blanketing L.A. With Full Slate of VMA Events

MTV's Video Music Awards are taking over Paramount on Sunday, and the network has planned a bevy of related events around the show, in addition to the many unofficial, unaffiliated hosts also throwing parties and presenting hospitality suites around town this week. Here, a rundown of MTV’s official schedule:

Tonight, 944 magazine will host its two-year anniversary party at the Kress, which will double as MTV's official VMA week bash. Ne-Yo will perform.

Tomorrow, the MTV Tr3s pre-VMA party takes to Level3, with live performances by Colby O'Donis and Calle 13.

On Friday, "Tag Records Presents: History in the Making," the official VMA kickoff party, takes to the Avalon in Hollywood, with a 10 p.m. scheduled start time for arrivals. Fabolous will perform, and Tag Records will debut its new artist Q Da Kid. Jermaine Dupri will host.

On Saturday, the "Rock Band 2" party to benefit Lifebeat will take to the House of Blues, with short performances by Panic at the Disco and the Plain White T’s beginning at 10 p.m. Tickets for the all-ages show are $50 and available to the public.

Also on Saturday, "Rhapsody Rocks the VMAs" will hit the Roxy, beginning at 11 p.m. with appearances by DJ Stretch Armstrong and T-Pain.

Sunday's awards program will take over seven areas on Paramount’s Hollywood lot; GM, Pepsi, Tag Body Spray, Taco Bell, Rhapsody, Verizon Wireless, and Nikon are its official sponsors.

Pepsi and Nikon will present the official VMA after-party on the Paramount back lot, immediately following the show. The Ting Tings will perform.
