Instead of working behind the scenes, MTV event honcho Leslie Leventman was front and center as the guest of honor at Rock and Wrap It Up's first benefit, which was hosted by Windows on the World. Leventman, MTV Networks' executive vice president of creative services and special events, received the Lena and Joseph Mandelbaum Humanitarian award from the nonprofit, which picks up food leftover from backstage catering at concerts and special events, and then delivers it to local soup kitchens. (You might consider contacting them about the leftover food at your next event.) MTV Networks produces countless events every year--both well-known ones like the MTV Video Music awards and the VH1 Fashion awards, as well as parties for advertisers and marketing partners--and Leventman has worked extensively with Rock and Wrap It Up to donate food.
Staffed by Event Associates and MTV, the event also honored former U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman for his involvement in setting up a program that collects leftover food from schools, and featured a performance by recording artist Alicia Keys.
