Evidently Sean "P. Diddy" Combs' takes a very hand-on approach to event planning, micromanaging every detail, down to his guests' clothing choices. The invitation to his post-MTV Video Music Awards bash included a special two-page "Party Policy" insert detailing the appropriate dress for what Combs and co-host Guy Oseary dubbed "the greatest party of all time." The instructions: "Pull out the flyest sh*t in your closet, or have your stylist pull something for you." Guests had to be well-groomed (clean shaves and haircuts for the men; manicures and waxing for the women) and well-dressed (Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana were acceptable).
Guests also had to come solo. Bad Boy Entertainment (Combs' record label) sent 1,500 select guests a gold-laminated "admit one" ticket embossed with the party details, and the instructions warned, "You, your man, your man's man, your guests, childhood friend, aunt visiting from out of town, etc., will not be admitted and left outside." The rules came along with a sueded, bone-colored fabric photo album filled with sepia-toned pictures of the hosts' past bashes. The final note: "P.S. Do not disturb the sexy."
