* INCOMING *
1. PUMA PARTY: In an Olympics tie-in, the athletics gear company is launching a London activation called Puma Yard, "an almost 500,000-square foot Jamaican-themed social club and outdoor space located in The Boiler House, East London," Women's Wear Daily reported. "For the duration of the Olympics, until their close August 12, members of the public will be able to visit the club to partake of Jamaican cuisine served from Kingston-inspired food stalls, activities such as foosball and ping-pong and to watch the games live on giant screens. The space will also host musicians, DJs and live performances, with artists including Groove Armada, Gyptian and Professor Green set to play at the location. Meanwhile, Puma will construct a retail space within Puma Yard, which will carry products such as Usain Bolt-inspired sneakers and a ready-to-wear collection for Olympic fans designed by Cedella Marley, Bob Marley’s daughter." http://wwd.us/NZgzI1
2. SELLING SPONSORSHIPS: Some trade show exhibitors are downsizing their booths and spending more on sponsorship opportunities. Velvet Chainsaw: "Conference organizers need to think about how to convert exhibitor’s marketing dollars into sponsorship opportunities that benefit attendees. This shift requires a more strategic and consultative sales approach." It offers three strategies to sell sponsorships. http://bit.ly/PAqNNg
3. RADIOHEAD POSTPONES TOUR: Following the deadly collapse of its stage before a Toronto concert, Radiohead has postponed several European tour dates. Billboard: "In addition to the loss of [crew member Scott] Johnson, the incident injured three other crew members and destroyed the group's light show which 'was unique and will take many weeks to replace.' Similarly, the collapse ruined Radiohead's backline, elements of which 'are decades old and therefore hard to replace.'" http://nyti.ms/MDVkFB
