
For a child-friendly snack, sushi rice “soldiers” are made with fresh salmon and tuna sashimi and garnished with edamame. The dish was created by DNA Events Inc. in Los Angeles.

This year, Restaurant Association of Metropolitan Washington moved its June 22 event to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. At food stations sponsored by Chile, dishes included ceviche and marinated shrimp with avocado pebre. Coordinating with the food, the chalkboard centerpiece depicted scenes of the country's harbors and fishing boats.

Kellogg's dished up thousands of bowls of cereal to hungry New Yorkers at a free pop-up restaurant June 24 to 27 that served only cereal and milk. The Roots performed a free concert that included a cover of the G. Love & Special Sauce song "Milk and Cereal," and guests could record their own version of the song in a private karaoke booth.

HBO hosted a June 17 bash for the premiere of the show's final season at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Terrariums housing skulls, candles, and rosary beads added to the moody setting.

Brazil came to Beverly Hills for Svedka’s Rio carnival-inspired Summer Samba party on June 17. Organizers from BMF Media Group bypassed vases in favor of pineapples, which held vibrant flower arrangements.

The second annual BET Experience returned to L.A. Live on June 27. The cable network’s three-day event had new features this year, including an invitation-only fashion show at the Conga Room.
