A simple cocktail party with an amazing view kicked off the annual Hamptons Hoops basketball tournament in the penthouse of the Hudson Hotel. Hoops sponsor Ian Schrager donated the use of the hotel and catering for the event, and co-sponsors, including GQ and Gotham magazines, Chivas Regal, Tommy Hilfiger, Mark Schwartz Shoes, BAI and Smirnoff (who donated the liquor for the evening) attracted a young, Hamptons-weekending crowd to the event.
Hamptons Hoops, an annual corporate basketball tournament that takes place every summer in the Hamptons, holds a series of fund-raising events throughout the season--such as this kickoff party coordinated by 4Play Media--to raise money for various nonprofit organizations. The proceeds from this event went to the Cardiovascular Research Foundation.
The interior of the penthouse, which seemed to be a disparate cluster of small rooms, opened onto a large outdoor patio with some bench seating at a big picnic table, and bars set out along the edges. Across the way on the other side of the roof, DJ Jared from Home Cooking Productions set up a DJ booth in the corner of the patio where a large white tent shaded the space from the hazy sun. One bed seat occupied the middle of the tented patio--the rest of the space was left for dancing and mingling.
