Ten-gallon hats and tuxedo jackets. An unusual combination for a fund-raising gala, but that was the recommended attire for the Camillus House seventh annual Hope for All Ball, held at the Hyatt Regency Miami. The evening's theme was "Denim and Diamonds," and attendees rose to the challenge by dressing up western chic with an impressive array of bling. Diamonds, crystals, and other dazzling gems sparkled amidst the jeans, leather vests, and high-heeled cowboy boots. The gala's theme left no excuse for any complaints about the stuffy-outfit syndrome. "It was something different and fun. We gave people the option to dress casually or in black tie," said Marcy Belfi, special events manager for Camillus House. "The response was positive, and everyone enjoyed themselves."
Advantage DMS created the rugged yet refined area guests enjoyed throughout the night. During the cocktail hour, highboy tables were dressed down with burlap tablecloths and topped with centerpieces made from baked bean cans with candles. Guests sipped champagne and munched on chicken crostini, spinach turnovers, and an array of roasted vegetables. They also perused a silent auction, organized by Durant Consulting Inc.
Cowboy mannequins were positioned behind curtains of white gauze on the path leading into the ballroom. The ballroom was pure opulence, with images of gems and jewels projected on the walls, and tables graced with rhinestones and white denim tablecloths provided by Over the Top Party Linens.
The tables represented both spectrums of the theme. The "diamond" tables featured centerpieces of white roses, orchids, and lisianthas. White votive candles embossed with "Hope for All" provided soft lighting, which made the faux gemstones strewn about the table sparkle. The country-themed tables' centerpieces had rhinestone-studded white cowboy hats resting on mini-bales of hay surrounded by rope lassos.
