On November 17, the Diamond Angels, a fund-raising organization for the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital Foundation, held the fourth annual Fairy Tale Ball at the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood. All proceeds from the evening will go to the new pediatric oncology unit at the hospital.
Before dinner, guests enjoyed cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres while bidding on the expansive silent-auction items on display. Items included sports memorabilia such as autographed footballs and basketballs, spa gift certificates, luxury vacations, and more. Among the most coveted prizes of the night were an acoustic guitar signed by rockers Steven Tyler, Richie Sambora, and Richie Supa, and two tickets to a Hannah Montana concert. As guests entered the ballroom for dinner, they were transported into a submarine realm reflecting the evening's "Under the Sea" fairy-tale theme. Tables were covered in deep and light blue linens, provided by Over the Top Rental Party Linens, and topped with one of three centerpieces created by A Basket Affair--each including starfish, conch shells, green orchids, and even some with live goldfish.
For dinner, the hotel served a delectable three-course meal, beginning with an appetizer trio of lobster espresso with tarragon cream, citrus-smoked salmon on a bed of microgreens, and yellow tomato emu with micro tuna nicoise. Following that, guests enjoyed blue crab crusted beef tenderloin with truffled polenta, broccolini, and roasted currant tomatoes, with sauce au poivre. To round out the meal, guests savored a dessert trio of white chocolate cheesecake with a fruit glaze, chocolate flourless cake clamshell with a cognac truffle pearl, and a white chocolate airbrushed seascape complete with edible coral and seahorse.
After dessert, guests danced the night away to the classic '80s sounds of Steve Augeri from Journey, Mike Reno of Loverboy, and Mickey Thomas of Starship.
