We at BizBash are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Bill Homan, a true pioneer in the event industry and the founder of Design Cuisine. Bill was a man who was deeply passionate about his craft and dedicated to making a positive impact in the world. In his interview after being inducted into the BizBash Hall of Fame in 2015, he reveled in his love for the industry and his desire to train future generations.
Bill founded Design Cuisine in the 1980s, and over the years it became one of the premier event companies in the Washington D.C. area. He was known for producing unforgettable events at major venues, including multiple inaugurations. His commitment to innovation and excellence was evident in every event he produced.
In addition to his success in the industry, Bill was also deeply committed to giving back. He served as a board member of EnventU, where he offered his advice and expertise to help raise millions of dollars for charity. He was also passionate about mentoring the next generation of event professionals, and even worked with high school students to help them get a foothold in the industry. Latoya Lewis, the executive director of EnventU, remembers that Bill quickly became a champion for EnventU’s mission to help youth create a pipeline to professions. Lewis recalls him as the loudest, most passionate cheerleader for all the young people that made their way through the program. He freely gave his time, experience, and resources to provide that opportunity with the biggest of smiles on his face. He will be sorely missed.
