Solar Power to Fuel Palm Springs Food and Wine Fest

The Palm Springs Food and Wine Festival, which runs from April 11 to 13, is getting an eco-conscious bent this year. Akeena Solar will power the festival with its Mobile Solar Power Station, a truck featuring solar panels. The festival will also offer food tastings on plates, cups, and napkins made of recycled paper or made from biodegradable corn, rice, sugar, or other agricultural products, provided by Trade Supplies Inc. Palm Springs Disposal Services, which will launch a new recycling program in July, will provide recycling containers and bins throughout the festival. The group will also set up a booth to educate attendees about recycling.
