October 27 will see the return of the BizBash Expo to the Javits Center and, at the 10th New York incarnation of the show, venue veteran Arthur Backal and Save the Date founder Jennifer Gilbert will deliver keynote presentations.
Gilbert, whose 16-year-old firm has worked with the likes of the Bill Gates Foundation, Oprah Winfrey, NewsCorp, Citigroup, and ABC, and who has herself appeared on the third season of the Bravo series The Real Housewives of New York City, will share personal stories at the morning session titled "Making It in Events: The View From Here!"
For the afternoon presentation, "What to Expect in Hospitality Negotiations for 2011," Backal will draw upon his two decades in the industry and experience managing more than 20 event spaces (including the Plaza, the Pierre, the St. Regis, and the Waldorf-Astoria) to spotlight strategies for successful events in the changing economic climate. Currently, Backal runs event management company State of the Art Enterprises and Backal Hospitality Group, which includes Apella and Tbar. He is also the director of catering at the Mandarin Oriental in New York.
