New from teambuilding company Philly Hops is the Lighting Fast Video Challenge, an exercise where corporate groups work together to make a movie. A facilitator trained in filmmaking teaches participants about the process, including camera shots and angles, making a storyboard, and the different roles required to make a movie. Each team writes, produces, and shoots a three-minute film using digital cameras. The movies can focus on a work-related topic or have no theme at all. In the end, all videos are screened and the best one wins a prize. The exercise, available to groups of eight to 100 people, typically lasts three to four hours, but can also serve as a full-day activity. The company requires a private room or meeting space twice as big as necessary to seat the group, plus audiovisual capabilities to screen the movies.
