Dan Chaimson, a professional musician who has recorded with artists such as Solange Knowles, Jem, and Kelis, moved to Chicago from Los Angeles in 2010 and founded the Gold Coast All Stars. The 11-piece band includes singers Angela Martin and Jeffrey Goldford, both former contestants on American Idol.
"We play fun, tasteful songs that people love and that, for whatever reason, you don't always hear performed at events," Chaimson says. The band's roster includes everything from Rihanna's "Umbrella" to Billy Joel's "You May be Right" to "Boogie On Reggae Woman" by Stevie Wonder. Available for corporate functions and fund-raisers, the band has recently worked for clients including Northwestern's Kellogg School of Business, Children's Memorial Hospital, and CS magazine. Pricing generally starts at $6,500, but varies depending on the number of musicians, performance time, and other variables.
