* INCOMING *

1. E3 PREVIEW: The giant Electronic Entertainment Expo—the video game trade show better known as E3—takes to Los Angeles this week.

* CNN: "The expo officially starts on Tuesday. But two of the event's biggest newsmakers, Sony and Microsoft, will kick things off early on Monday with press events they hope will start the buzz machine spinning."

* TechRadar: "this year's event will have around 45,000 attendees and an incredible 35,000 video monitors."

* Entertainment Software Association president Michael Gallagher: "One thing we've done is increase the scrutiny that we apply to the attendees, making sure they're in fact qualified to be there. The value for the business of E3 is that people are there that you need to do business with, [and that's] not with pure enthusiasts and gamers." [Ars Technica]

2. BONNAROO BIG & GREEN: The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival (in Manchester, Tennessee, Thursday through Sunday) isn't just the biggest music festival in North America by attendance and acreage—it's also one of the greenest festivals. The Huntsville Times: "Last year 40 percent of festival-goers opted to donate to green initiatives, thus making possible things like an up-cycling project with First World Trash, further research into renewable energy sources, 'Rock the Earth' panels and festival carbon offsets." The concessions use biodegradable service items and 130 tons of waste is recycled or composted.

3. PIPPA'S PLANS: The Daily Mail looks at how Pippa Middleton, sister of the new Duchess of Cambridge, is handling her new international fame. "She is the most socially ambitious person I have ever come across," says one acquaintance, "and one of the most vivacious."

While juggling invitations and job offers, a friend says the part-time event planner wants to expand her parents' business: "The Party Times is just an online magazine, but Pippa believes she can turn it into an events business with her experience and connections; she is clever enough to know her worth now, and wants to capitalise on it."

4. PLANNING A ROYAL VISIT: Speaking of Wills and Kate: Page Six reports on their trip to Los Angeles next month: "Sources say the itinerary would likely include a British Academy of Film and Television Arts event. Other possibilities discussed include a charity polo match or a fund-raiser for William and Kate's chosen charities at the Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City. A private dinner with Hollywood moguls planned by New York Giants chairman Steve Tisch may now have to be shelved due to time constraints."

EW's blog on the stage: "I’m sure it came off well on screen, but live, in person, the stage was particularly delightful. Host Jason Sudeikis kept making fun of it, but really, it came off as something like a spectacular, icicle spider web…in a forest? Maybe? Anyway, it really seemed to embody youth and MTV. Bravo."
