* INCOMING *

1. AIBTM OPENS: The Americas Meetings & Events Exhibition debuted in Baltimore on Tuesday with more than 3,000 meeting planners and 700 exhibitors. It follows the hosted-buyer model; buyers have eight appointments per day.

In addition to well-established domestic exhibitors, the show has new international players as well, says Steve Knight, AIBTM project director for Reed Travel Exhibitions, in a Q&A on the show's site: "Dubai, for example, is here, as well as Abu Dhabi. What it shows is that these emerging markets are going after U.S. business, and it's really encouraging that now is the time that they want to do so."

3. THE NEW TECH P.R. PRINCESSES: The New York Post: "Bianca Caampued, 26, and Mallory Blair, 22, have become the reigning prom queens of New York’s tech scene since launching their party-planning and marketing company—Small Girls PR—nine months ago. The duo, (who are both under 5-foot-3) throw the buzziest parties for the city’s tech scene." They're clearly getting buzz (we met Caampued a few months back), but does The Post seem overly impressed with the ability to get tech employees to go to parties? Isn't that what  twentysomethings do?
