Ad Age provides more insight into what the new offerings mean for business: "Brands expend time and resources on Facebook, but not a lot of advertising dollars given how many hours consumers spend there. So, on the eve of an expected I.P.O., Facebook essentially relaunched its ad business at an event today in New York. The goal: Make advertising, or "stories" in Facebook parlance, a more appealing sell for brands. One key part of this is serving ads Facebook's 425 million mobile users, a long-awaited step to monetize a key revenue source."

4. TRAVEL BOOKING SITE LAUNCH: A new automated Web site for booking group hotel rooms called Groupize.com debuted Wednesday. The online resource for planners looking to book up to 25 rooms provides users with hotel options from a database of more than 25,000 venues. Boston.com: "The person making the reservation can designate the type of group and if guests will need meeting space or meals at the hotel, then invite guests to customize the type of room they want and pay with their own credit cards."

5. EXCHANGING ROLES: Armani Exchange’s former head of marketing Tom Jarrold, and creative director Matthew Scrivens, launched new marketing agency Jet/MMS. WWD: " Jarrold said during the 10 years he spent at A|X, the marketing landscape changed dramatically. The rise of the Internet has caused segmentation among brand service firms with different companies specializing in different parts of the business, including digital, app creators, and social media experts. JET/MMS will ‘focus on big ideas that are media agnostic and work across all platforms,’ Jarrold said, including traditional advertising campaigns, store windows, events, press relations, and social media.”
