1. WEATHER WARNINGS: Tropical Storm Isaac continues to threaten to crash next week's Republican National Convention. Huffington Post: "The Tampa Convention Center, where much of the GOP convention will be held, sits only six feet above sea level. BLAMING BOTTLED WATER: For reasons of civic pride and eco-consciousness, Washington's water and sewer utility is urging planners of presidential inauguration events to skip bottled water in favor of its tap water. The 2013 Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies said earlier this month it would serve Saratoga Spring Water at inaugural events. ORLANDO: Streamsong Resort is under construction on 16,000 acres Polk County, about halfway between Orlando and Tampa. A clubhouse that includes a 4,500-square-foot event space is scheduled to open in December. When the entire resort is complete in late 2013, it will have 18,500 square feet of meeting space.
The Bob Carr Performing Arts Centre will host the Red Chair Affair Saturday night. The fund-raising event provides a preview of what local cultural institutions will be offering in the coming season.
