1. TWEET RIDE: A digital ad agency will offer free use of bicycles at South by Southwest. The twist? The bikes tweet. Mashable: "The bikes, which will be planted strategically or 'bike bombed' at events during the Interactive portion of the festival, will include GPS devices that will transmit location data to Razorfish's social media team. … In addition to tweeting about their location ('Hey, I'm at the Capitol') the bikes will also talk about the weather and other topics, like Austin's various food trucks." http://on.mash.to/13r7uiW
2. NINETIES NOSTALGIA: The 1990s as an event theme is building as a trend, this time with a costumed event at New York's New Museum. Women's Wear Daily: "Per the invitation, members were instructed to dress in 'Gen-X garb,' and most got into the theme. The bulk of partiers veered more grunge than minimalist with a near-ubiquitous showing of flannel (often tied around the waist), Doc Martens and, for the female partygoers, an oxblood lip. … The theme pervaded the playlist with Eagle-Eye Cherry and Third Eye Blind playing over the speakers and a selection of theme-riffing cocktails at the bar — My So-Called Martini, The OJ, The Clinton, etc." http://wwd.us/WllCYU
3. TINA FEY, OSCAR HOST? Well, turns out the actress and successful Golden Globes co-host is not interested in the gig. Hollywood Reporter: "The issue, she said, is how many wardrobe changes that task would require; having hosted a sweatpants-mandatory Oscars viewing party this year, Fey isn't interested in cycling through dresses throughout one evening onstage." http://bit.ly/144kYgl
