YM's party to celebrate its current MTV issue took the "bubblegum pop" idea to a new level. Guests at Milk Studios found themselves sipping strawberry bubblegum-flavored martinis while perched atop specially designed bubble-shaped chairs. In addition to music by Qool DJ Marv (from Qool Music & Entertainment), the evening's entertainment included the ultimate bubblegum pop stars--the manufactured-on-television boy band O-Town.
The party was held for clients, advertisers, the media and MTV employees who helped with the issue, as well as to honor Matthew Rolston, who photographed O-Town for the issue's cover. Several MTV personalities--including Dave Holmes, Brian McFayden and Ray Munns--also showed up at the event. (But the lord of the TRL set, Carson Daly, was a no-show.)
Guests were served an array of martinis featuring Skyy vodka, as well as Krispy Kreme doughnuts and other candy-laden hors d'oeuvres. The sparse d?cor featured bright projections of the YM and MTV logos by Scharff Weisberg on the walls and floors. And what boy-crazy event would be complete without shirtless male caterwaiters from Dan Taylor? The Smint mints they handed out didn't quite fit with the event's bubblegum theme, but the models' buff bodies allowed them to get away with it.
