The look was all bubblegum pink, but the entertainment wasn't bubblegum pop. Instead, YM turned to all-girl punk band the Donnas for the teen mag's annual MTV issue party at Splashlight Studios. In a space washed with pink light by Big Wave International, Botanica decorated with pink flowers, hanging discs and fabric for a crowd of twentysomething ad types. YM event marketing director Nancy Alpert worked with Corporate Events Manhattan's Bryan Jacobson and NYC Tone's Tony Richards to produce the event, which climaxed with a quick, loud set from the band—think of them as the Ramones with blowouts and lip gloss. (And unlike Avril Lavigne, they can actually name a few Ramones songs.)

Big Wave International bathed the space in pink light, and Botanica hung some pink rings and discs over the main bar.

Stacking glasses precariously on their sides has become a way to give a bar a different look.
