Event Planning and Catering: "My favorite jack-of-all-trades is Joseph Cady, who does elegant styling and catering. He does a great job of understanding what the client really wants, including the overall feel of the event. He did a perfect job at a Rodale employee event with the band Guster at the Bowery Ballroom. And he also manages the Newspace, where Rodale's C.E.O. Steve Murphy, hosted a cocktail reception for the Christopher Reeve Foundation last fall."
Venue: "We threw a party celebrating Rodale's publication of Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth at the American Museum of Natural History. Claudia Schutz Gahagan in [the] events [department] was fantastic. She adapted to every need we had and was never frazzled—that was a great asset to me at such a high-profile, large-scale event."
Invitations: "Marc Friedland and Robert Gertz craft gorgeous, hand-made invitations at Creative Intelligence in California. in only a few days' time, they created a beautiful fabric and textured paper invitation for Martha Stewart's Rules book launch luncheon."
Entertainment: "The Philadelphia Funk Authority (800.805.7677) is a great party band that's very reasonably priced. They're based in Pennsylvania, but willing to work in New York, New Jersey, and beyond."
