There may be fewer ducats in shoppers' pockets this year, but shopping-event organizers are nevertheless busy all over Los Angeles.
The Eco Gift Festival, an earth-friendly gift show, takes place December 12 to 14 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. All products sold at the event are environmentally responsible, and vendors must comply with green regulations in order to participate. (Our interview with show president and founder Tommy Rosen is here.)
Gen Art Shops by Design took to the California Market Center last night with a runway show and Bliss spa treatments for guests, as well as high-end fashions and modern home furnishings on offer from more than 35 vendors. Domaine Ste. Michelle hosted a V.I.P. champagne lounge, and DJ Lady Sha provided music.
The Unique Los Angeles independent design and gift sale encourages guests to buy largely local goods on December 13 and 14, also at the California Market Center. More than 200 independent designers, artists, and merchants will hawk eco-friendly gifts, fashion, jewelry, stationery, art, and baby items. A V.I.P. preview and cocktail reception today features drinks by Pabst, Izze, and Siptea.
Last weekend, as we reported, children’s luxury clothing retailer MilkShop.com partnered with education charity P.S. Arts on a shopping event for about 200 guests of all ages at 5th and Sunset Studios. Celebrity parents including Angie Harmon and Jason Bateman hosted, and Amanda Peet and her children were among the guests. Kid-friendly activities included photos with Santa, a gingerbread-house craft station, face painting, and a candy bar.
Also last weekend, Bust magazine’s Holiday Craftacular at the Echoplex brought together crafters for a day of inexpensive shopping. Items included knitwear, jewelry, home decor, and vintage clothing.
