BizBash.com Is 10 Years Old Today

For many people, February 14 means chocolates and flowers (or maybe singledom anxiety). Around here it marks the date of the launch of BizBash.com. And this year we’re marking a nice round number—our 10th anniversary.

Back on Valentine’s Day 2001, after about five months of sending out email newsletters with news from New York events, we officially launched the Web site, setting the stage for our trade show (which debuted that fall), magazine (launched in spring 2002), and expansion to a string of additional markets (we’re up to nine total now).

We plan to mark this milestone in a bigger way later in the year, with stories and features online and in a special magazine issue. We’ll highlight the biggest trends, ideas, and industry developments that developed during BizBash’s (still brief) history.

There’s a bit of self-congratulation here, sure—we’re happy to be around, considering the challenges the event and media industries have faced this past decade. But we’re more focused on fun and service for you, too. What can we all learn from the past decade as we look to the years ahead? What ideas should we continue to use, and what practices can we leave behind? And what can we learn from the past?

To help us pull this package together, we’d like to hear from you. We’ll do a reader survey online, and we’ll ask our Facebook fans and Twitter followers for help, too. (You’re watching us at @BizBash_News, right?) But we hope you’ll drop us a line at [email protected], too. What do you think has had the biggest impact on the industry during this period? What can we learn from those years?

We look forward to seeing your suggestions—and covering this continuously changing, continuously inspiring industry in the years to come. Thanks for your support these last 10 years.
