1. OLYMPIC SEND OFF: The theme for the closing ceremony of this summer’s London Olympics is "a Symphony of British Music," with classical composer Edward Elgar and Adele set to perform. The London Symphony Orchestra will also provide music for the August 12 show. Other unconfirmed performers include the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, and the Spice Girls. Billboard: "Designer Es Devlin said the show, which will include 3,500 performers, would be a visual extravaganza drawing on icons of British art and design."

2. OSCAR DICTATE: After originally banning Sacha Baron Cohen from the Oscars because he planned on dressing up as his character from his upcoming movie "The Dictator," a spokesperson from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said that Cohen is now allowed to make an appearance, but his character isn't. The Hollywood Reporter: "Still, the Academy is making it clear that Cohen is not welcome to use the red carpet as a platform for a promotional stunt for his upcoming movie ‘The Dictator,’ and other sources say the threat of booting him became more substantial on Wednesday."

3. P&G COST-CUTTING: Procter & Gamble is cutting more than $10 billion over the next five years, which will directly impact external marketing efforts and jobs. Ad Age: "The cost-cutting aims to streamline P&G to compete amid slow growth in developed markets and aggressive expansion in developing markets, such as expanding its toothpaste brands, including Oral-B and Crest, to just about every country in the world except Japan, Korea and Pakistan, by 2015."

4. FACEBOOK'S NEW ADS: The social media platform's new ad formats allow users to respond to the content and share that with their social network. Fast Company: "It is saying that ads based on content, rather than messaging, have a better chance of hitting home, and that ads involving tacit endorsements from the people you know have a better chance of capturing your attention."

5. PEPSI'S SNACK MARKETING BOOST: The company is increasing its advertising and marketing on its snack business by 35 percent. This announcement comes after Pepsi revealed that it will boost marketing for its beverage division by up to $600 million this year. Ad Age:
