To celebrate the premiere of the Golf Channel's The Big Break IV: USA vs. Europe, the show's sponsor, Dewar's 12, invited 150 guests to a viewing party on the terrace lawn of the Biltmore Hotel. Dewar's marketing director Joe Santos, assistant marketing director Sharlie Reynolds, and field marketing specialist Jessica Suarez hired Liana Rodriguez from the Agency to produce the event, which featured a whiskey lounge ambience.
Plush mahogany leather couches and wooden coffee tables arranged in front of two 9- by 12-foot TV screens (provided by Pete Diaz Productions) made for a relaxed viewing environment. Guests indulged in cocktails and cigars with Golf Channel hosts Vince Cellini and Stephanie Sparks.
Hors d'oeuvres included tiny roasted red potatoes, prosciutto-wrapped figs, ahi tuna tartare, vegetarian spring rolls, and macadamia-nut-crusted shrimp. For dinner, the Biltmore's catering department set up three food stations that served garlic prawns with lime cilantro aioli; skirt steak and Argentinean sausage with chimichuri sauce; Florida snapper with papaya salsa; and a round of beef with cabernet au jus, horseradish cream, and French rolls. Potato side dishes were served family-style in martini glasses. Guests topped garlic-whipped Yukon potatoes or mashed honey sweet potatoes with sautΓ©ed mushrooms, pancetta, Vermont cheddar, sour cream, crisp fried onions, tomato bruschetta, or sautΓ©ed leeks.
In the latest edition of The Big Break, contestants compete for professional status and endorsements. Event attendees also got a chance to compete for prizes.
Team USA member David Carnell and Team Europe's Guy Woodman watched guests try to chip golf balls into a basketball hoop in one shot to win prizes like golf clubs, bottles of Dewar's 12, and cigars. Winners picked up their prizes at a tent behind the bar. Guests left with gift bags filled with a Dewar's 12 cigar holder, golf divot tools, sunblock, and golf tees and balls.
