Rosa Mexicano Lands in National Harbor With Private Dining for 70

Fans of Chinatown’s Rosa Mexicano can now ferry across the Potomac to a new location at the burgeoning National Harbor complex. According to Rosa Mexicano director of marketing Sharon Isaacs, “the site offers stunning views of the Potomac River.”

Following a similar design to the Chinatown location, the National Harbor restaurant, which opened on September 30, features traditional Oaxacan wood carvings, an electric blue tiled water feature, clay pottery, Mayan Indian textiles, and imported folk art masks. The venue's unofficial mascot, the "Avocado God," is painted on the front windows to welcome guests inside. New menu items include jalapeños rellenos and albondigas (Mexican meatballs).

The space is divided into three areas: the Cactus room, the Potomac patio, and the main dining room. The private, 70-seat Cactus room is outfitted with Mexican tin light fixtures and custom paintings. The Potomac patio (with lounge chairs, benches, and table seating options) seats 100, and can be tented and heated for cooler months.

The 1,000-square-foot main dining room, complete with a tortilla station, seat-belt chairs, purple banquettes, and a colorful beige, blue, and pink color scheme, is available for full buyouts for 500. “These spaces are very flexible and have floor-to-ceiling windows,” said regional director of catering Stephanie Weisman.
