Tallahassee's first luxury boutique hotel, Hotel Duval, has appointed Allison Brainard its director of special events and meetings.

"Having worked in the South Florida industry for some time, I've noticed that boutique hotels are not something that Tallahassee natives are used to," said Brainard. "Local planners are excited about having a new, chic venue that's not the typical Southern hospitality-type of hotel they are accustomed to."

A graduate of Florida State University, with a certification in special events from the RLSA program, Brainard has worked with several nationally recognized brands. She has worked as the director of catering and private events at the University Center Club, and in public relations at the Zimmerman Agency in Tallahassee where she handled accounts for clients such as the British Virgin Islands Tourist Board and the Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation.

"Allison's knowledge of the event industry will prove valuable for Hotel Duval," said Chad Kittrell, owner of Hotel Duval. "She's innovative and understands how to creatively achieve successful results for clients."

Hotel Duval is set to open in March.
