Universal Orlando Resort has added new teambuilding experiences to its roster of corporate activities, and these outings have the added bonus of mixing creativity with charity, as the outcome of groups' efforts helps aid Central Florida nonprofits and families. One of the philanthropic offerings is titled "Get It in Gear," and gives teams the opportunity to build, then race, bicycles, which are then donated to children in the region. In the "Basket Case" program, participants follow clues to unearth items like T-shirts and plush toys that have been hidden throughout the theme parks. The items are then used to create gift baskets that are given to area kids, active-duty soldiers, and homeless shelters. Typical outings run about two hours in duration, and pre- or post-activity meals or receptions can be worked into the event. Packages are customizable; pricing varies.
