The Orlando/Orange County Convention and Visitors Bureau will now be known simply as Visit Orlando. The organization's board of directors announced the name change at its year-end luncheon Friday at the Peabody Orlando.
“Our new name reflects our commitment to bringing visitors from around the world to Orlando and Orange County. It is simple, concise, user-friendly, and more hospitable,” said Gary Sain, president and C.E.O. of Visit Orlando.
Along with the name change, the organization will unveil a new logo in early 2011. Visit Orlando began formal operation in July 1984 with 94 members. Today, the organization has 1,200 partners representing all sectors of the travel and tourism industry, including accommodations, attractions, entertainment, convention services, dining, retail, transportation, and visitor services.
