After two years of construction, the Tampa Museum of Art will officially open its new 66,000-square-foot facility in the new Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park on Saturday. The three-story venue will have seven indoor galleries, 18,000 square feet of covered outdoor event space, and several private rooms.
In the main lobby, the Morsani atrium's 60-foot high ceiling boasts skylights and a suspended art installation at its center. The space can seat about 250 or accommodate nearly 550 for receptions.
Just off the lobby, the Dickey Family Lecture Room can accommodate groups of 200 for receptions or be separated into two 700-square-foot spaces. The first floor also has a 684-square-foot classroom for 85.
The second-floor galleries are not available for events, but an adjacent outdoor sculpture garden can accommodate parties of as many as 125.
The third floor houses a 1,200-square-foot library and two small meeting rooms that accommodate 40 people each and are equipped with wireless internet, projection screens, and other audiovisual capabilities.
For outdoor events,18,000 square feet of covered event space wraps around the museum’s ground level as part of Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.
Mise En Place is the exclusive caterer, and the museum can facilitate rentals, security, and additional audiovisual services.
