Kayla Crowe, 31, is an event manager at Yahoo. She's based in Boynton Beach, Fla.
What I do:
As a senior event planner on the global events and experiential team at Yahoo, I am responsible for leading the team through strategy, planning and execution of a variety of B2B, B2C and internal events. Along with my team, we pride ourselves on creativity and are always pushing the limits to make every event unique and elevate the attendee experience.
Why I love my job:
I truly love my team and the people I get to work with on a daily basis. There is never a dull moment, and I have been given the confidence and support to take risks and seize opportunities. My career at Yahoo has given me range in the event space that I am so proud of and grateful for!
My career journey:
I began my career in college as an intern in the CEO’s office (formerly AOL), working on special projects and supporting events. This is where I realized my passion for creating special, memorable moments for others. I then was offered a job as an events coordinator, and from there worked my way up to event manager.
My greatest career accomplishment:
2020 asked me to become an expert in something that no one had done. I spent my days learning about new platforms, attending virtual events to brainstorm new ideas and reimagining experiences to exceed attendees' expectations. It’s been a tough two years, but I stayed positive and now have a skillset I never thought I’d have.
My most memorable event experience in the past year:
Last year, I produced a virtual experience for our top high-valued customers. The series was called "Behind the Curtain" with Schitt’s Creek and was designed to connect with our customers in a personalized and intimate way. The authenticity and banter between the cast and our host gave people hope during such a challenging time.
Impressive stats I’m responsible for:
The "Behind the Curtain" event reached over 167 top-tier customers, which influenced over $9 million in revenue. The overall experience also received a 93% overall rating.
What’s next?
I am so excited to be leading our 2022 Global Sales Conference in March and being on-site with nine of my team members after two years!
What I do outside of work:
After moving to Florida last year and getting engaged, I have been spending most of my time planning my wedding! I also love hosting dinner parties and playing tennis.
Dream vacation:
A safari in Africa.
